Withdrawn DC and DBR citation

trainluva7 made this Official Information request to KiwiRail

Response to this request is long overdue. By law KiwiRail should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: trainluva7

Could I have citation that DBR 1267 and DC's 4565 4611 4916 are withdrawn as well as any other DC withdrawn in 2017 so far

Dear Trainluva7

Thank you for your most recent enquiries (dated 8 and 16 February 2017)
for train-related information.

We have noticed that you have (over the past seven months) made quite a
number of requests for a similar type of information.  As OIA requests,
each one of these involves significant staff time and administrative
effort.

We would like to explore with you whether there is a better way of getting
to you information you are interested in.

Can you please send us your name and contact details so we can have a
discussion with you about this?

We trust that you will see this in the spirit it is intended as being a
genuine effort to assist you.  However, should you decide for whatever
reason you do not wish to take up this offer to meet, in light of the
significant time and effort we are having to spend on these enquiries, we
will in any event need to get sufficient information from you to check
your eligibility to request official information.  Under the Official
Information Act 1982, only New Zealand citizens and permanent residents,
and people who are in New Zealand, can request information held by
KiwiRail.  What we will need is proof that you satisfy this criteria.

Thank you

Dear Trainluva7

Thank you for sending your email address to us. However, an email address does not help us to know whether you are eligible to make an OIA request.

Please provide us with proof that you are either a New Zealand citizen; or a permanent resident of New Zealand; or that you live in New Zealand.

Once we receive that information and are sure you are eligible to make OIA requests, we will be able to reply to your recent requests.

Dear Trainluva7

Thank you for your email. While we appreciate that as a result of your age you cannot readily provide us with evidence of your identity, could you at least provide us with your name and address in New Zealand? This will enable us to confirm that you are a NZ resident and eligible to make OIA requests.

It would also be helpful if you were to provide us with some background on your interest in rail. While we are always happy to provide information, use of the OIA process for repeated queries like yours is costly for us because each request has to be processed separately. If we were to understand what it is that interests you, we might be able to suggest a better way of providing you with information in a more efficient way.

I look forward to hearing from you.
