Subject: Official Information request - Public right of access

 

Dear Auckland Council,

 

In the UK there is a practice where if a footpath is used by the public
for a certain length of time it becomes known as a public right of way and
the landowners have to assure continued access of that land to the public.

 

Is there any such obligation in Auckland. I believe it might be called a
right of access here and I was wondering if you could explain the rules of
that to me. Thanks very much in advance.
