Geoff Scott Investigation
Ross Francis made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
Response to this request is long overdue. By law New Zealand Police should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Ross Francis
Dear New Zealand Police,
On 11 March 2018, I asked what information or assistance (if any) did Wellington police request from Christchurch police during their investigation into Geoffrey David Scott. I also asked for all records held in respect of communication between police in Wellington and police in Christchurch regarding that investigation. In his response of 16 April 2018, David Kirby provided me with a single page (page 5) of a single job sheet.
I do not believe that is the only information Police hold in respect of my request. Please send me copies of all communication between Christchurch and Wellington Police in respect of the Geoffrey David Scott case and copies of all communication between Christchurch and Wellington Police in respect of the Christchurch Civic Creche/Christchurch Childcare Centre case.
The single page of the single job sheet provided by Mr Kirby states (among other things) “Don’t disallow multiple offending.” How many childcare workers, employed at the Wellington Hospital creche between 1 January 1991 and 30 October July 1992, did Police speak with as part of their investigation into Scott? At any time during their investigation, did Police suspect that more than one person may have sexually or physically abused children at the Wellington Hospital creche?
When did the standard practice of formally interviewing a suspected child abuse victim only once come into effect?
Yours faithfully,
Ross Francis
New Zealand Police
Thank You for your email Ross.

New Zealand Police
Dear Mr Francis
I have been asked to let you know that Police requires an extension of
time in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section 15A(1) of
the Official Information Act 1982, because the request necessitates a
search through a large quantity of information and consultations such that
a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the
original time limit.
Police require until 12 June 2018 to provide a substantive response to
your request.
You have the right to complain to the Office of the Ombudsman about this
extension.
