Dear University of Auckland,
Could you confirm that members of the higher management (vice-chancellor, etc.) can fly business class with tickets paid from the university budget, but all other staff are permitted to fly only economy, even if they use their own research grants?

Dear Mr Francis,
I refer to your request of 6 May. All University of Auckland travel is booked in accordance with the University's Travel Policy (attached). Under clause 6.5.2, all domestic and international air travel is to be economy class unless a higher class of travel is approved by a SMT member in accordance with clauses 6.5.3-6.5.8 or for health reasons. The Travel Policy applies to all air fares paid for by the University of Auckland, irrespective of the funding source.
