Hamilton City Council
Dear Dan,
Further to your information request of 15 September 2018 in respect of the
below, I am now able to provide Hamilton City Council’s response.
You requested:
Please could I have copies of any MOU between the council and any animal
rescue organisations both currently and historically in place?
Our response:
The Animal Education and Control team at Hamilton City Council have an
active Memorandum of Understanding with the local branch of the RSPCA.
The MoU between Hamilton City Council and the Waikato Branch of the RSPCA
was developed when Waikato SPCA had to temporarily close its doors to
members of the public. The MoU enabled Council to support the RSPCA and
Community by providing welfare services for cats and other animals it is
not normally mandated by legislation to do. The MoU remains in place and
Council continue to support Waikato SPCA as it returns to full services.
We do not have MoU’s with any other rescue organisation but do maintain
good working relationships with local and national rescue organisations
often working together to re-home animals or provide care for young
dependent animals that come into the care of Animal Education and Control.
A copy of our existing MOU is attached.
Kind regards
Rebecca Watson
