Dear Jarrod,
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act request – McLean
Park Costs – Response
1. Further to your request for information received 11 March 2019
regarding McLean Park Costs, I am now able to provide you with Napier City
Council’s response.
2. You requested:
I would like to request 3 pieces of information regarding McLean Park:
a) How much was spent on the re-turf?
b) How much was spent on the re-branding of McLean Park? (Including
design fees, consultants, as well as physically changing the signage and
seat rows)
c) When is the cricket pitch to be replaced with a drop-in pitch?
3. Response:
a) The total cost of the McLean Park re-turf was $5,139,945
b) The total cost of the McLean Park rebranding/way finding was
$317,190
c) McLean Park has an in situ clay base of the equivalent width of 5
¾ wickets.
Prior to the re-turf project the centre clay wicket was excavated and the
foundations required for a drop-in wicket technology were installed.
Mclean Park ground staff are developing a number of clay drop-in wickets
at the Nelson Park facility which will be used initially in domestic
cricket.
As this is new technology for Napier City Council ground staff and Mclean
Park, the balance of in situ clay wickets have been left in the ground for
use in the cricket season.
This will allow time for ground staff to master the practice of preparing
drop-in wickets, while not compromising the capacity of available wickets
for cricket season.
A drop-in wicket was successfully used in the most recent domestic cricket
game.
Over time, Council will increase the number of drop-in wickets that are
produced in a season with the view to removing in situ clay from the
infield. No deadline has been set for this to occur.

not hesitate to contact us at [1][Napier City Council request email].
