Shapefiles and associated information of broadband and wireless coverage
Andrew Lensen made this Official Information request to Crown Infrastructure Partners
The request was successful.
From: Andrew Lensen
Dear Crown Infrastructure Partners,
Can you please provide all held shapefiles and other information pertaining to the coverage for (existing or planned) fibre, RBI1/2/2+, the Mobile Blackspot Fund, and any other rollout of internet services that CIP is associated with.
By way of example, I refer to the data you provided as part of a tender in 2016:
https://www.gets.govt.nz/CFH/ExternalTen...
Shapefiles:
- RBI2 Shapefiles: These describe the land parcels that represent our best intelligence of the location of the Category 1 Eligible End Users in each Rural Broadband Region. Each .zip file includes files within a particular Rural Broadband Region.
- MBS Highway Shapefiles: These files describe stretches of State Highway (Highway Black Spot Zones) which do not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.
- MBS Highway National Shapefiles: These files describe a national view of State Highways which do not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.
- MBS Tourism Shapefiles: These files describe Tourism locations which do not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Lensen
From: Kate Broadhurst (Crown Infrastructure)
Crown Infrastructure Partners
Good afternoon Andrew
Thank you for your email and the request for information below.
We note that the National Broadband Map (available at
[1]https://broadbandmap.nz/home) provides information on current broadband
availability (including Fibre, Wireless, etc) for land parcels and areas.
You can search for a specific address or area to understand the current
and future capability for each type of broadband.
If you still require the specific information requested, we note that the
due to the wide scope of the request, compiling the relevant information
will take time and an extension to the timeline for responding will be
necessary. We also note that a charge will likely apply for the supply of
information (in accordance with section 15 of the Official Information Act
1982).
We would therefore be grateful if you would confirm whether the
information is still required and, if so, whether the scope of information
requested has changed. We can then assess the time and charge required to
fulfil this request.
Kind regards
Kate

Subject: Official Information request - Shapefiles and associated
information of broadband and wireless coverage
Dear Crown Infrastructure Partners,
Can you please provide all held shapefiles and other information
pertaining to the coverage for (existing or planned) fibre, RBI1/2/2+,
the Mobile Blackspot Fund, and any other rollout of internet services
that CIP is associated with.
By way of example, I refer to the data you provided as part of a tender
in 2016:
[4][6]https://www.gets.govt.nz/CFH/ExternalTen...
Shapefiles:
- RBI2 Shapefiles: These describe the land parcels that represent our
best intelligence of the location of the Category 1 Eligible End Users in
each Rural Broadband Region. Each .zip file includes files within a
particular Rural Broadband Region.
- MBS Highway Shapefiles: These files describe stretches of State Highway
(Highway Black Spot Zones) which do not have mobile service based on
current and planned coverage data.
- MBS Highway National Shapefiles: These files describe a national view
of State Highways which do not have mobile service based on current and
planned coverage data.
- MBS Tourism Shapefiles: These files describe Tourism locations which do
not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Lensen
