Sonia Nair made this Official Information request to Kris Faafoi
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Sonia Nair to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Sonia Nair
Respected Sir,
Hope you are well.
I am writing this message regarding the issue of Post-study Work Visa applicants stranded offshore since 2020.
There has been no communication pertaining to Post-study Work Visa and these applicants are worried about their future as they invested their hard-earned money, time and energy to be in New Zealand. It is not their fault that the unprecedented situation of Covid-19 thwarted their plans.
The pragmatic solution is to grant visa to the Post-study work visa applicants that got stranded offshore in 2020 and allow the Covid-19 vaccinated persons to enter New Zealand. They need not quarantine.
I, hereby, humbly request you to please help these migrants to seek justice. And unitedly, we need to restore globalization. This can be carried out being together as a whole and not single-handed.
Please advise.
Thanking you.
Kind regards,
Sonia Nair.

From: Immigration
Dear Sonia
Thank you for your email to Hon Kris Faafoi. As you are aware, New Zealand’s border is currently closed to almost all travellers to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The travel ban including isolation requirements applies to all arrivals into New Zealand whether they come by air or sea.
The Government has made some changes to the exceptions from the temporary border closure to help more families reunite, and support our economic recovery, without increasing the risk of COVID-19, and will continue to review settings as managed isolation capacity permits. However, we recognise that there are still a number of people like you who are desperately waiting to return to New Zealand.
The Government is working on a longer-term border strategy and exploring how more groups of people into New Zealand could be safely allowed to enter New Zealand.
It is essential that we keep the people in New Zealand safe while the number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise overseas. That means everyone coming into the country will continue to do 14 days managed isolation or quarantine.
As key decisions are made they will be communicated through the Immigration New Zealand website, at: https://www.immigration.govt.nz/about-us....
