Can you please confirm how many medical assessors were assigned to the Centre for Adverse Reactions Monitoring (CARM) system at the start of the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme (February 2021) and how many are assigned at the present day (15 Feb 2022)?

Yes please—can request the count of Medical Assessors working at CARM at the beginning of the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme and the count working at CARM now (Wed 16 Feb).

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) on 15 February 2022 for
information relating to the Centre for Adverse Reaction and Monitoring
(CARM). On 15 February 2022 the OIA Services team sent you an email
stating “quote back email”. On 17 February 2022 you clarified and asked
for:
“… the count of Medical Assessors working at CARM at the beginning of the
Covid-19 Vaccination Programme and the count working at CARM now (Wed 16
Feb).”
There are eight medical assessors evaluating Adverse Events Following
Immunisation (AEFI) reports to COVID-19 vaccines. However, these medical
assessors do not work full time.
For further information, you may wish to contact Centre for Adverse
Reactions and Monitoring (CARM) at the University of Otago directly. CARM
undertakes pharmacovigilance under contract to the Ministry. Their contact
