The New Zealand Flag Referendum Gallery
Lance Watson made this Official Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
The request was successful.
From: Lance Watson
Kia ora Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,
As part of the 2015-2016 flag referendum process, the public submitted 10,291 designs that were made available for the public to browse on the "Flag design gallery".
Here is a wayback machine archive of the page.
https://web.archive.org/web/201507201929...
The actual gallery no longer seems to exist. Since the majority of the information I can find on the flag referendum is on your website here:
https://dpmc.govt.nz/our-programmes/spec...
I thought I'd reach out to you. If you are not the right place, I'd appreciate some advice on who might hold this information.
Was the gallery of 10,291 submissions retained and stored somewhere? Or was it deleted? If it was retained, is it still available for public viewing somehow?
As a point of constitutional change (or lack thereof), I believe access to how the public interacted with this process is important.
Ngā mihi,
Lance Watson
