New Zealand Police
Tēnā koe ASE,
Thank you for your information request. Your reference number is
IR-01-23-19660.
The Official Information Act 1982 requires that we advise you of our
decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we
received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that
time limit and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of
the time to make our decision, to 07/08/2023.
We am aware you have received a response from Acting Detective Senior
Sergeant N Hill notifying you that the Officer in Charge of the campaign
is not available until 24/07/2023.
This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision if you are
not satisfied with Police’s response to your request. You can find more
information at

❗ Please note that we have a new email address. Please send all future
emails to * [email address] *, and update your records
accordingly.

I hope you will consider complaining to the ombudsman about this unlawful delay. Police have a poor reputation with OIA compliance, however the ombudsman is limited in ability to deal with it unless there are complaints from the public.
