Took off is very windy and crazy weather in auckland.
How can this happen??
Will the CAA step in and stop the pilots doing crazy this like this what will risk life.

I am writing in response to your email dated 13 February 2023 seeking CAA’s comments regarding airplanes being allowed to fly during a weather condition (cyclone).

We do not consider that your request is an official information request under the OIA as it seeks for comments/opinion rather than information.

In any case, the CAA is not in a position to comment on your request as we do not hold any information in this regard.

Aviation Safety is a shared responsibility between the aviation regulator and operators. CAA ensures operators have processes to manage their compliance and safety, and monitors compliance. Operators are expected to manage the safety of their operations and maintain compliance.

For your information, the particular airline referred by you, LATAM Airlines, is predominantly overseen by the aviation regulator based in the State where the operator is based i.e. DGAC Chile.
