Number of staff loss due to vaccine mandates at the ministry of Justice
Erika Whittome made this Official Information request to Ministry of Justice
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Justice should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Erika Whittome
Dear Ministry of Justice,
I understand vaccination mandates were dropped sometime around Sept 2022 with the revoking of certain C19 orders by the State.
What number of staff did you terminate or place on any form of " extended leave" due to your vaccination mandates around nov/Dec 2021 and Jan 2022? Please also share the total headcount as of 15 Nov 2021 and today (when you answer this OIA).
Yours faithfully,
Erika Whittome

Kia ora Erica
I'm getting in touch regarding your Official Information Act request of 23 May 2023, as per below.
We are working to provide you with the information, however I wanted to clarify something. The Ministry's COVID-19 vaccination policy came into effect on 1 February 2022. It was reviewed and updated in June 2022, determining that staff no longer had to be vaccinated to work at the Ministry's sites, although vaccination was still encouraged.
I wonder if it would be more useful to you if we provided the numbers of staff either terminated or placed on extended leave for the period of 1 February-30 June 2022, rather than for 1 November 2021-31 January 2022? If you prefer to stick with 1 November 2021-31 January 2022, we'll work to provide you with the numbers for that period. Thanks ahead.
Ngā mihi

Dear Easton, Paul,
Are you sure? I know of two people who were placed on leave from DoJ who were not vaccinated
