Dear Victoria University of Wellington,

 

In light of the tragic events at Loafers Lodge this past week, I'd like to
please find out about the fire control/protection systems the university
has in place in each of its Halls of Residence.

 

May you please provide the following information:

 

1.) What fire controls are in place for each hall?  If the Hall is a
refurbished building and not a new build, what were the pre-existing fire
controls/protections, and what new controls/protections were installed as
part of the refurbishment?

 

2.) How often are these controls/protections tested to ensure they are
working correctly?

 

3.) In the last 3 years, how many times have alarm systems been
deactivated in Halls, and for what extent of time were they deactivated
for?

 

4.) Has the University recently done any reviews on the fire
controls/protections in place in Halls to identify areas where it could
improve?  If not, will they be conducting one in light of the Loafers
Lodge tragedy?

 

5.) A copy of any fire engineer reports that exist for each hall
