Te Reo Irirangi o Aotearoa
Tēnā koutou,
I would like to ask the following questions about RNZ's policies regarding the usage of te reo Māori.
1. What, if any, direction has been provided to RNZ by the current government regarding the usage of te reo Māori in broadcasts or news articles?
2. Have there been any changes to policy regarding the use of te reo Māori in broadcasts or news articles at RNZ?
3. Have RNZ newscasters been given any formal or informal directives on their use of te reo Māori in broadcasts?
4. Please provide any internal communication or documents regarding the use of te reo Māori in broadcasts or news articles.
My questions relate to any communication or documents from the beginning of the regulated 3-month election period (ie since July 14, 2023) to when you answer.
Ngā mihi maioha,
David Palmer
