Kia Ora Dave,

I refer to your official information request we received on 7 February
2024 requesting the following:

- the currently scheduled citizenship ceremony dates and the capacities of
each ceremony

- the number of people currently on the citizenship ceremony waitlist

We can confirm that the currently scheduled citizenship ceremony dates
being held in Christchurch are to take place on the following dates:

o 26 February 2024
o 25 March 2024
o 29 April 2024

As of 9 February 2024, no dates have been confirmed for a ceremony in May
or the months beyond.

Transfer of request

On 9 February 2024, we transferred the following sections of your LGOIMA
request to the Department of Internal Affairs:

o the capacities of each ceremony
o the number of people currently on the citizenship ceremony waitlist

While these ceremonies are organised by the Council, the Council is not
responsible for allocating candidates to ceremony dates. This is organised
by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). All Ceremonies are by
invitation only, with the invitations sent to new citizens by the DIA
directly. Due to this reason, the information which you have requested is
not held by the Christchurch City Council.

Please find attached the official letter confirming the transfer of your
LGOIMA request.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Publication of responses to LGOIMA requests

Please note: our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Christchurch
City Council website a month after they have been responded to, with
requesters’ personal details withheld. If you have any concerns about
this, please contact the Official Information team on
[2][Christchurch City Council request email].

Kind regards,
