Provincial Growth Fund train services upgrades

Tim Frank made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Tim Frank to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Tim Frank

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

In 2018 Ministers announced funding for KiwiRail passenger train service upgrades under the Provincial Growth Fund. A Better Business Case outlined the investment envisaged. Under the Official Information Act I request information on whether this funding has been used and how it has been applied. In particular, any information on whether the agreed investment has been made would be helpful.

Yours faithfully,

Tim Frank

Good afternoon Tim

We have received the below request, transferred from MBIE - asking about the funding for KiwiRail passenger train service upgrades.
Attached is a list of all funding KiwiRail has received through the PGF.

Could you please advise which funding you are referring to?

There was the investment into the National network, but this was not specifically for passenger services, or there was the PGF funding to upgrade the passenger carriages for KiwiRail's scenic services.

Please get in touch.
Kind regards

Dave

Good afternoon Tim

So, I'm assuming that it's the $24 million in funding for the upgraded carriages for our scenic services, two of these have already entered service as per our press release below,

https://www.kiwirail.co.nz/media/scenic-...

There are also the new AKP Scenic Plus carriages that will be entering service soon - keep a look out for them with their new distinctive livery.

Is that what you were looking for?

Cheers
Dave
