Dear JR,

As consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such
that a response cannot reasonably be given within the original time limit,
the University has extended the time limit for your request under section
15A(1)(b) of the OIA. The new maximum time limit for the University’s
response is 8 July 2024; we will respond to your request as soon as
reasonably practicable. You have the right to make a complaint to an
Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with this extension.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Landon Watt,

I attach a link to a request made upon the same terms, but with reference to different years. An explanation as to why the University was able to provide statistics in that instance but not this would be appreciated.

I look forward to your swift reply.

Dear requester,

A decision to create statistics in response to an OIA request on one
occasion does not require the University to create the same or similar
statistics if they are requested subsequently. You have the right to make
a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with the University's
response to your OIA request.

From: JR

Dear Landon Watt,

Section 18(g) provides that a request may be refused if the information is not held by the University. There is no mention of statistics. As you alluded to the ability to create statistics necessarily requires that the University hold the relevant information. As such, the request would more appropritely have been refused under section 18(f).

Please advise.

Yours sincerely,

JR
