Question to Academic staff Dr Michael Baker on Covid-19 Infection Fatality Rate

Erika Whittome made this Official Information request to University of Otago

Response to this request is long overdue. By law University of Otago should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Erika Whittome

Dear University of Otago,
Your staff member, Dr Michael Baker, epidemiologist was on Newshub a few days ago reporting deaths of Covid-19, "waves getting bigger' and that "people are dying everyday from this infection".

His statement "Waves getting bigger" indicates the impact is now higher of this disease.

1. Would Dr Michael Baker kindly share the information on the general Infection Fatality Rate of the Covid-19 disease?

2. Please share the infection fatality rate of this disease in New Zealand for the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and up to the current date in 2024.

Yours faithfully,

Erika Whittome

Dear Dr Michael Baker
The response appears to be rather confabulated.

Would you please share the infection fatality rate of the disease? This is a standard measurement for a disease.

Yours sincerely,

Erika Whittome
