Kia ora,

On behalf of Hon Chris Bishop, thank you for your email.

Hon Chris Bishop considers all correspondence to be important and
appreciates you taking the time to write.  As the Minister receives a
large amount of correspondence, it is not always possible to personally
reply to each email. As such the following guidelines apply:

o Invitations and meeting requests will be processed as soon as
possible, and a staff member will be in contact with you in due
course.
o Requests for official information (OIAs) will be managed in accordance
with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, which may
include transfer to a more relevant Minister or agency.
o If your request relates to media, it will be referred to the media
team.
o If your email falls outside of the Minister’s portfolio
responsibilities, expresses a personal view, or is copied to multiple
Members of Parliament, your correspondence will be noted and/or
transferred to another office.
o Latest information from the Beehive can be found here:

To the Minster of Housing,

This transfer of my information request to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is surprising given it is the Minister who set up the advisory group that is the subject of my request.

It looks like this transfer is for the purpose of delaying any response, and perhaps also, to limit ministerial accountability.

Yours in disgust,

Andrew Riddell

Tēnā koe Andrew Riddell

I refer to your official information request, which was transferred to the
Ministry of Housing and Urban Development on 16 July 2024, for information
regarding the Housing Expert Advisory Group.

The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision to 27 August 2024.

This extension is necessary because your request requires external
consultations and a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the
original time limit.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at:
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
