Dear Auckland University of Technology,
Since the new Vice Chancellor took office, how much taxpayer money has been spent on Pacifica-related initiatives? Please include AUT staff flights to the Pacific Islands, the salary and budget of the Pro Vice Chancellor Pacifica, the establishment of Pacifica-only study spaces, and anything else related.

Dear Auckland University of Technology,
I am writing to follow up on my Official Information Act (OIA) request dated 18 July 2024 regarding spending on Pasifika initiatives under the leadership of the new Vice Chancellor. By law, you are required to respond to OIA requests within 20 working days, and as of today, a response is long overdue.
To reiterate, my original request was as follows:
Total taxpayer money spent on Pasifika-related initiatives since the current Vice-Chancellor took office.
I requested specific details regarding AUT staff flights to the Pacific Islands, the salary and budget of the Pro Vice Chancellor Pacifica, the establishment of Pasifika-only study spaces.
I also sent a follow-up message on 15 November 2024, reminding you of your legal obligation to respond, but I have yet to receive any reply or acknowledgment.
I would appreciate a prompt explanation for the delay and an indication of when I can expect a full response to my request. Please note that failure to comply with OIA obligations may result in a complaint being lodged with the Office of the Ombudsman.
I look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mike Hutton

Dear Mr Hutton
As you are aware, we do not seem to have received your initial OIA request
in July, but did begin working on this request when the detail was brought
to our attention last week.
Unfortunately, due to the end of the year being an extremely busy time for
the University, responding to your request would interfere with our
operations. This is to notify you of an extension of the time needed to
respond until Friday 17 January 2025.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at

Yours sincerely
