Dear Ministry of Health

I am writing to make a request under the Official Information Act 1982.

1. The current average wait time for paediatric clinic appointments across
Auckland
2. The number of children currently on the waitlist for paediatric clinic appointments in Auckland
3. The criteria used to prioritize patients for appointments in paediatric clinics.
4. Any measures being implemented to reduce wait times for paediatric clinic appointments.
5. Historical data on wait times for paediatric clinic appointments over the past five years, if available.
6. According to the Service Level Agreement (SLA), what is the expected or standard wait time for paediatric clinic appointments? How does the current wait time compare to this standard?
7. If the current wait time exceeds the SLA standards, please provide details on the steps being taken to address this issue. Additionally, what actions have been taken in response to reported delays?
8. Please include any relevant reports, documents, or data that pertain to the above questions.

Tēnā koe Yasir,

Thank you for your email of 28 August 2024, asking for the following
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):

1. The current average wait time for paediatric clinic appointments
across
Auckland
2. The number of children currently on the waitlist for paediatric clinic
appointments in Auckland
3. The criteria used to prioritize patients for appointments in paediatric
clinics.
4. Any measures being implemented to reduce wait times for paediatric
clinic appointments.
5. Historical data on wait times for paediatric clinic appointments over
the past five years, if available.
6. According to the Service Level Agreement (SLA), what is the expected or
standard wait time for paediatric clinic appointments? How does the
current wait time compare to this standard?
7. If the current wait time exceeds the SLA standards, please provide
details on the steps being taken to address this issue. Additionally, what
actions have been taken in response to reported delays?
8. Please include any relevant reports, documents, or data that pertain to
the above questions.

This email is to let you know that Health NZ needs more time to make a
decision on your request.

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision, to 17 October 2024.

This extension is required because the volume of information is such that
to make a decision on your request cannot reasonably be made within the
original time limit under section 15A(1)(a) of the Act.

If you have any questions, please contact us
at [1][email address]

If you are not happy with this extension, you have the right to make a
complaint to the Ombudsman. Information about how to do this is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by phoning 0800 802 602.

Kia ora Yasir

Thank you for your request for information regarding paediatric wait times
on 28 August 2024.

I apologise for the delay in providing our response. The time taken is not
what we aspire to. This is something we are working to get on top of, in
the context of being a developing organisation, an understandably high
public interest in our work and the high volume of requests we are dealing
with

Please find attached our response to your request.

If you have any questions, please get in touch at
[1][email address].

If you are not happy with this response, you have the right to make a
complaint to the Ombudsman. Information about how to do this is available
at [2]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by phoning 0800 802 602.
