All information pertaininmg to the disconnection of railway yards and other assets and the sale of land
Niall Robertson made this Official Information request to KiwiRail
Response to this request is long overdue. By law KiwiRail should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Niall Robertson
Kia ora,
Under the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, we would like to request further information regarding the current process of disconnecting yards and selling land. Our supplemental questions are;
How widespread through the country will this process be? In another words, could we have a list of all railway assets targeted for disconnection and/or sale of railway land?
We would also like to ask that KiwiRail provide all documentation and correspondence since 31 March 2023, outlining all discussions and decisions around infrastructure that it deems surplus to requirements, or property or infrastructure that is identified as being possibly surplus to requirements.
This includes documentation around all potential land sales or removal of existing infrastructure, such as turntables, triangles, sidings and platforms, across New Zealand.
We also request that KiwiRail provide all correspondence, impact statements, and any other documentation - including text messages and chat messages - around the sale of land in Te Kuiti, and the removal of rail infrastructure in Te Kuiti since 31 March 2023.
Nga mihi nui,
Niall Robertson
National Coordinator of The Rail Advocacy Collective (TRAC),
Yours faithfully,
Niall Robertson
