We refer to your official information request dated 11 October 2024 for
Correspondence regarding Fluoridation.

 

You requested the below information:

 

“Please provide copies or other records of all correspondence (written,
verbal and electronic) regarding fluoridation of Waitaki's water supply,
between Mayor Gary Kircher and the Ministry of Health and/or the
Director-General of Health and/or the Minister of Health since January
2022.

The Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act requires that
we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working
days after the day we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be
possible to meet that time limit and we are therefore writing to notify
you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to Wednesday the
20th of November 2024. See section [1]Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 No 174 (as at 23 December 2023), Public
Act – New Zealand Legislation.

 

This extension is necessary because your request has necessitated an email
search that needs to be collated and reviewed internally and externally
with the Ministry of Health. Therefore, a proper response cannot be made
within the original time limit.

 

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
