This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Nick Carraway to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Nick Carraway

Dear Hon. Penny Simmonds,

Under the OIA I request:

- Copies of all letters and emails (including any attachments/appendices) from external organisations (e.g. alcohol & beverage companies) to yourself/your office, relating to the so called 'container return scheme' proposed policy (including similar names that relate to this policy).
- Timeframe is from the day you became Minister for the Environment, to today, 4 Nov 2024.
- Copies of all letters and emails from yourself/your office to these external organisations in response to any correspondence from them.

To be clear, in the interests of time I am not interested in internal correspondence of your staff or officials, just simply what has been received and sent to/from external organisations.

Yours faithfully,
Nick C

Thank you for contacting Hon. Penny Simmonds, Member of Parliament for
Invercargill, Minister for the Environment, Minister for Tertiary
Education & Skills and Associate Minister for Social Development &
Employment.
The Minister considers all correspondence important, however, as she
receives a large amount of correspondence, it is not always possible to
provide a personal response.
Please note the following guidelines:

* If you are an Invercargill constituent contacting the Minister about
an issue, then your email will be passed to her electorate office.
* Invitations and requests to meet with the Minister will be considered
and a staff member will be in touch with you in due course.
* Requests for official information will be managed in accordance with
provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, which may include a
transfer to a more relevant Minister or agency.
* If your email falls outside of the Minister's portfolio
responsibilities, expresses a personal view, or is copied to multiple
Members of Parliament, then your opinion will be noted and your
correspondence may be transferred to another office, or there may be
no further response to you.

Thank you once again for taking the time to write; it is very much
appreciated.
The Office of Hon. Penny Simmonds

Dear Nick,

I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 4
November for correspondence to and from external organisation regarding
Container Return Schemes.

The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit, and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision, to the 9^th of December, an extension of 5 working days.

This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.

Please know that we will endeavour to get this information to you as soon
as we can.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision.  Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Kind regards,

Office of Hon Penny Simmonds

Minister for the Environment | Tertiary Education and Skills
