Dear Erica Stanford,

Can you please liaise with the relevant teams and provide the following

- Current Number of Illegal Aliens: Please provide the most recent statistics on the number of illegal aliens currently residing in New Zealand.
- Number of Illegal Aliens in State Housing and / or receiving benefits of any kind welfare, disability etc etc
- Total Persons Deported Per Annum Since 2010: Please provide statistics on the total number of persons deported from New Zealand each year since 2010.
- Total Number of Foreigners Born in NZ to Citizenship: Please provide the total number of people born in New Zealand who have been granted citizenship since the inception of birthright citizenship without a mother of father who is a citizen of New Zealand. I understand it is common place for people from some countries to come to New Zealand and birth their baby directly opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act 2005.
- Total Benefits/Allowances Paid Out for These Babies: I request information on the total amount of benefits or allowances that have been paid out for children born in New Zealand to foreign parents since 2006.

I acknowledge receipt of your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), of 5 December 2024.

We have interpreted your request to be for the following information:

1. Most recent statistics or modelling of persons in New Zealand unlawfully

All of the information you have requested is more closely connected with the functions of other departments. Under section 14(b)(ii) of the Act, we are required to transfer your request to the more relevant departments. We have consulted with two other offices and four Government departments on who is best to answer your request and have resolved to transfer your request in full, to three different departments. Your request is being transferred as follows:

-Questions 1 and 3 are transferred to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
-Questions 2 and 5 are transferred to the Ministry of Social Development (MSD)
-Question 4 is transferred to the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA)

Please note that transferring your questions to the agencies listed above does not guarantee that the information you have requested is held by the agencies we have transferred your request to.
