Dear Ministerial Services – WorkSafe,

I note your response to the OIA request. I would like to request that the original OIA requests include requests to review HSR PINs and Dirrectives as I am aware there has been at least 1 pin issued relating to security in hospitals.

Yours sincerely,

D Reddington

Good morning,

Thank you for your reply to our letter dated 17 February 2025.

Your original OIA request was for all information relating to investigations made by WorkSafe relating to security officers in hospitals since 2020.
You are now requesting information on Health and Safety Representative PINS and Directives in hospitals.

Provisional improvement notices (PINs) are issued by HSR's to a person or a PCBU asking them to address a health and safety concern. PINs are not written by WorkSafe and therefore we do not have a copy or record of these notices unless the individual or PCBU notifies WorkSafe of the PIN. An individual or PCBU can, within seven days ask WorkSafe to review a PIN. More information on Provisional Improvement Notices can be found on our website. https://www.worksafe.govt.nz/managing-he...

I am unsure what you mean by Directives. It is not a term commonly used at WorkSafe.
If you would like for us to search for a specific HSR PIN we will need specific details of the location and date of the PIN, and we will log that as a new OIA request.

I hope this has been of some help to you.
Kind regards,

Ministerial Services Team
WorkSafe New Zealand

Dear Ministerial Services – WorkSafe,

Thankyou for your reply. I'm unsure what exact date, but it was December or January there was a request to review a PIN by a health NZ southern hospital. Dirrective I'm talking about is a dirrective to cease unsafe work, I'm pretty sure this is also an HSR power.

Yours sincerely,

D Reddington

Hello again D. Reddington,

Thank you for your email response regarding your request for information.
WorkSafe receives hundreds of notifications and requests regarding unsafe work, and without sufficient details we are unable to search for information. If you are able to provide the name of the hospital, a date or the name of the person who made the request we will be able to search our files.

Unfortunately, WorkSafe New Zealand does not consider the requested information to be specific enough and will take no further action regarding your email at this time.
If you would still like to make a request for information, we invite you to provide additional details so that we can progress your request under the Official Information Act 1982. Please let us know if you require further assistance by contacting [email address] again if you have any questions.

Kind regards.

Dear Ministerial Services – WorkSafe,

I believe the hospital would have been Dunedin hospital, Queenstown hospital, Southland Hospital or Oamaru Hospital. Please include all complaints regarding security in these hospitals.

Yours sincerely,

D Reddington
