Kia ora Andrew,
I am writing to you regarding your request under the Official Information Act (the Act), as below.
This email is to advise that we will need to extend the time limit for responding to you by 20 working days to 12 May 2025. This is because the consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time frame (section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA refers).
However, if this process is completed before 12 May 2025, the response will be sent to you as soon as possible.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision by contacting www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Kind regards,

Dear Todd McClay (MIN),
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern regarding the extension of the time period for responding to my Official Information Act (OIA) request. I believe that the extension may not align with the provisions of the Act, particularly in terms of what constitutes a reasonable period under section 15A.
Could you please provide a detailed justification for the extension, including the specific reasons and circumstances that necessitated it? Additionally, I would appreciate clarification on how this decision complies with the requirements of the OIA.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew P
