Dear New Zealand

 

I am writing to seek clarification regarding the handling of my case by
the Taihape Police following my illegal eviction by my former landlord,
Darren Playford, and the subsequent theft of my personal belongings.
Despite providing evidence of the theft, including items valued at over
$27,000, I have not received any explanation or seen any action taken by
the police regarding this matter.

 

To provide some context:

 

In March 2023, I was illegally evicted by Darren Playford using a trespass
notice issued by the NZ Police.

 

Following the eviction, a 105 report was filed, and I provided evidence of
the stolen property, which included personal items, furniture, and
irreplaceable family heirlooms.

 

Among the stolen items was my mother's paua and rimu urn, which still
contained human remains. The theft and desecration of human remains is a
criminal offense under New Zealand law, yet no action has been taken
regarding this violation.

 

Given the seriousness of the theft, including the desecration of human
remains, I am requesting an explanation as to why:

 

1. Darren Playford has not been charged or questioned despite the provided
evidence and the serious nature of the crime.

 

2. The Taihape Police did not follow up on this matter or assist me in
recovering my property.

 

3. The theft of irreplaceable and legally protected items, including human
remains, has not been pursued as a criminal case.

 

This situation is not only distressing but also raises concerns about the
standards of police work and the lack of accountability for serious
criminal offenses. I would greatly appreciate an explanation of the
police’s actions or inactions in this case and whether any further
investigation will be conducted.

 

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt
response.
