Controlled purchase operations data

Jackson Wood made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was partially successful.

From: Jackson Wood

Dear New Zealand Police,

Can you please provide me with national data on alcohol Controlled Purchase Operations (CPOs) which occurred between 1 January 2012 and 22 September 2015.

It would be helpful if this could be provided with the following break down

- date
- region/town/city
- name of store (EG: Mike Bush's Booze Barn)
- name of license holder
- type of outlet (EG: Supermarket, bottle store, convenience store, etc)
- outcome of the CPO (EG: pass, fail, etc)

If this were to be provided as an electronic spreadsheet file that would make everyone super happy.

If in the body of your response you could mention

- total number of CPOs undertaken with New Zealand Police involvement during this period
- percentage breakdown of passes and fails for CPOs during this period
- percentage breakdown of what types of outlets are failing (EG: 20% of outlets which supplied alcohol to minors during CPOs were Supermarkets)

That would also be pretty terrific.

Thank you in advance.

Yours faithfully,

Jackson James Wood

Dear Mr Wood

I refer to your Official Information Act request of 30 September 2015 for
the following information:

“national data on alcohol Controlled Purchase Operations (CPOs) which
occurred between 1 January 2012 and 22 September 2015.

It would be helpful if this could be provided with the following break
down

- date
- region/town/city
- name of store (EG: Mike Bush's Booze Barn)
- name of license holder
- type of outlet (EG: Supermarket, bottle store, convenience store, etc)
- outcome of the CPO (EG: pass, fail, etc):

Pursuant to section 15A of the Official Information Act 1982, I advise you
of the requirement to extend the time limit to respond to your requests.
The period of the extension is until 27 November 2015.

The reason for the extension is that the time required to research and
collate the requested information and for the consultations necessary to
make a decision on the request are such that a proper response cannot
reasonably be made within the original time limit.

You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act
1982, to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision to extend
the time limit for deciding upon your request.

Yours sincerely
