Prison terms for cartels

James Wilson made this Official Information request to Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs

The request was partially successful.

From: James Wilson

Dear Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs,

Could you provide one specific example of a legitimate, legal business which would have it's trading suppressed by the implementation of possible jail terms (in addition to a range of financial penalties) for people and business who break laws which seek to prevent price fixing?

Can you provide a detailed explanation, with examples, as to how possible prison terms for law breakers will have a suppressive effect on the economy?

Yours faithfully,

Dr James Wilson
