New Zealand Police
Dear Zane
I am writing in response to your request dated 19 April 2016.
There were 2,969 proceedings against offenders for 'Breach of Protection
Order' offences in 2014.
Please note that the above figure refers to all outstanding protection
orders and not for those issued for the year 2014. Police data do not
contain the year protection orders were issued, therefore, we are unable
to produce a number that relates to protection orders given out in a
specific year (refer section 18(g) of the OIA).
I trust this information is sufficient for your purposes. If you have any
questions regarding this data, please feel free to contact me via
[1][email address] .
You have the right under section 28(3) of the OIA to seek a review of my
handling of your request by the Office of the Ombudsmen.
Regards,
Dr Gavin Knight
