Dear Mr Collins
I refer to your request of 10 February 2016 for the following information:
Hi I would like to have the statistics of the Total number of protection
orders breaches arrests Male vs Female for year 2014 and 2015.
Also would like them to be classified per offence DV category.
The purpose of this email is to notify you that Police requires an
extension of time in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section
15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982, because the request
necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and
consultations such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.
Police require until 31 March 2016 to provide a substantive response to
your request.
You have the right to complain to the Office of the Ombudsmen about this
extension.
Yours sincerely

New Zealand Police
Dear Zane
I am writing in response to your request dated 10 February 2016 .
The tables below show the number of instances where Police arrested and
proceeded against an offender for 'Breach of Protection Order' and 'Male
Assaults Female' offences for the years 2014 and 2015.
Please note that Police crime statistics are collected according to the
legal definitions of particular offences. Whether a 'Breach of
Protection Order' offence involves male versus female does not form part
of such legal definition and is not identified in Police statistics (refer
section 18(g) of the OIA). In this regard, only the table for 'Male
Assaults Female' indicates the relationship of the offender to the victim.
