Customary take by iwi
Graham Carter made this Official Information request to Ministry for Primary Industries
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry for Primary Industries should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Graham Carter
Dear Ministry for Primary Industries,
Can Maori ( iwi) take toheroa from the Toheroa area on the West Coast beaches near Dargaville, whether by customary fishing permit within their rohe or not?
How many permits have been authorized by Marae Committee, Ma-ori Committee,
Runanga or Trust Board that represents the Tangata Whenua of this area over the last two years?
Yours faithfully,
Graham Carter
