Permanent speed limit change along the North Western Motorwary
B. Pinkney made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency
The request was successful.
From: B. Pinkney
Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,
Please treat this as an Official Information Act request. For the purposes of the Act, I am a New Zealand citizen and ordinarily residing in New Zealand at the time of making this request. You generally have 20 working days to respond to this notice, as required by law. Your response will be published publicly on the fyi.org.nz website.
Recently the permanent speed limit along a large portion of the North Western motorway was lowered from 100km/h to 80km/h. The reason for this as stipulated by NZ Transport Agency's Brett Gliddon was to "reduce confusion".
As per the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003, you will be aware that certain decision-making processes and consultation needs to occur but a limit can be altered. In light of this it would be appreciated if you can please supply me with:
1) Copies of the correspondence obtained during the consultation process, in particular from the local community that shows confusion existed prior to the speed limit change.
2) Any engineering or specialist reports about proposed change.
I look forward to your response to this request.
Yours faithfully,
B. Pinkney
