Fireworks
James Lochead made this Official Information request to Auckland Council
The request was partially successful.
From: James Lochead
Dear Auckland Council,
Auckland Council to consult over private fireworks ban.
Following this story I wish to request the following information.
1) Has Auckland council commited any funds or intends to commit any extra funds to public firework displays (all doccuments please, including what the council has commited for the last 10 years itemised).
2) "On Thursday, the council's Governing Body voted unanimously to consult Aucklanders on banning the private sale of fireworks altogether." Is Auckland Council intending to ban the use of fireworks within the region using bylaws despite Fireworks for sale to the public being highly regulated by the EPA and legal?
3) What implications would a bylaw have to New Zealanders who culturally use fireworks for celebrations. From Guy fawlkes to New years celebrations?
Yours faithfully,
James Lochead
Auckland Council
