Thank you for your email, received on June 29th 2018. You requested the
following information, under the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):
Please supply:
1. The number of people employed in your public library
service.
2. The number of people employed in your public library service
being paid less than $20.55 per hour.
Response:
1. The number of people employed in the Christchurch City Council
public library service is 388
2. The number of people employed in the Christchurch City Council’s
public library service being paid less than $20.55 per hour is 66
a. The roles of staff who earn less than $20.55 include shelver,
data entry assistant, library assistant, and distribution and maintenance
handyperson
b. Please note that these staff already earn the Living Wage.
However, in response to the new Living Wage rate of $20.55 proposed by
Living Wage Aotearoa, a report has been requested by Council. Staff are
currently working on this.
You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision.
