Te Haumaru Flats Accessible Bathrooms Flooding

S. Paurini made this Official Information request to Megan Woods

The request was partially successful.

From: S. Paurini

Dear Megan Woods,

Your new flats at Frankmoore Avenue (Te Haumaru) all have accessible walk in bathrooms with showers.

The building has a number of design flaws one of which is flat floors without a slant in the bathrooms on the floor.

This means that the bathrooms flood with water, some of which goes into the bedroom. The showers are meant to be for elderly folk and for folk with physical disabilities.

I have requested many times this year (HNZ tenancy management and regional management) to have my floor repaired. I fell earlier this year and injured myself. I already have a physical disability.

Other tenants have the same problem. All the bathrooms flood when the shower is running.

While the flats are near new - they are not well built (other problems have been identified but HNZ isn't moving on it).

Please have the showers repaired so there's less chance of serious accidents.

Yours faithfully,

S. Paurini

From: S. Paurini

Dear Victoria Stowers,
I have not heard back from Mr. Faafois office. Also the reason I would not have had the issue addressed by Kairanga Ora is because they aren't going to address it, that's the reason I wrote to Megan Woods. Kairanga Ora staff are not interested in addressing the issue - so surely the minister must address it by repairing the shower floor (possibly most shower floors in the building)?

Yours sincerely,

S. Paurini

Dear Kainga Ora Correspondence,

The information you have is wrong. The shower floods irrespetive of the shower curtain being there. This letter from you is the first time HNZ has provided this information. Over the last few months of correspondence, HNZ has informed me that the problem is there, they sent an adviser who assessed the shower room and rerported that there is no slant in the room.

I wan the shower repaired as soon as possible this year.

Contact me to organise this.

Yours sincerely,

S. Paurini
