Nicolas Bosma made this Official Information request to Dunedin City Council
The request was successful.
From: Nicolas Bosma
Dear Dunedin City Council,
Concerning Dunedin Public Art Gallery,
What happens to artwork donated by members of the public at the front desk if it is not chosen to be exhibited?
Is there a record kept of such instances? If so I request a PDF copy.
Yours faithfully,
Nicolas Bosma

Dunedin City Council
Dear Nicolas
I refer to your e-mail received by Council on 4 October 2013 requesting
information relating to the donation of art works to the Dunedin Public
Art Gallery. Your request has been considered under the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and I provide the following
response.
The Dunedin Public Art Gallery does not accept donated art works which are
deposited at the front desk. The Gallery has a formal process by which
all potential gifts and bequests of art work are evaluated to determine
their suitability. If artwork is found to be compatible with the
collection objectives, they are ratified by an independent committee
before being formally entered into the collection. This process may take
several months.
If you have any questions regarding the donation of art works please
contact the Administration Services Manager at the Dunedin Public Art
Gallery.
