Dear Ministry of Health,

I have read that on the 23rd October 2022 the WHO and Bill and Melinda
Gates foundation practiced for a pandemic scenario in a meeting called
Catastrophic Contagion.

The scenario is a virus which will be similar to polio and will be
travelling in contaminated water.

It will target children.

I request the following information from the Ministry of Health:
- Were any New Zealand representatives at the Catastrophic Contagion
meeting?
- What communication do you have with the WHO regarding the catastrophic
contagion and the next virus? Please share any emails between the MoH and
WHO from September 2022-Feb 2023
- Do you have plans to begin encouraging people to take the Polio vaccine
again? Will there be a polio vaccine campaign in 2023?
- Have the ministry of education communicated that schools will close for
a virus in 2023?
- What preparation are you doing for the spread of Strep A?
- please share communication with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and
MoH from September 2022 - Feb 2023

reason, Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) has decided to transfer
this part of your request to Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand under section

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) on 2 February 2023, which
was partially transferred to Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand on 10
February 2023. Please find a response to the remaining parts of your
request below:

 

Were any New Zealand representatives at the Catastrophic Contagion
meeting?

 

Manatū Hauora did not have any representatives at the Catastrophic
Contagion meeting, and we are unaware of any other New Zealand government
representation. However, we cannot speak on behalf of all government
agencies.

 

What communication do you have with the WHO regarding the catastrophic
contagion and the next virus? Please share any emails between the MoH and
WHO from September 2022-Feb 2023

 

Manatū Hauora did not have any communication with the World Health
Organization (WHO) concerning the Catastrophic Contagion. Therefore, this
part of your request is refused under section 18(e)) of the Act, as the
information requested does not exist.

 

Have the ministry of education communicated that schools will close for a
virus in 2023?

 

I have been advised by the Ministry of Education that they have not
communicated to Manatū Hauora that schools will close for a virus in 2023.

 

What preparation are you doing for the spread of Strep A? please share
communication with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and MoH from
September 2022 - Feb 2023

 

Manatū Hauora has not had any communication with the Bill and Melinda
Gates Foundation in the time period specified. Therefore, this part of
your request is refused under section 18(e) of the Act as the information
requested does not exist.

 

Regarding Invasive Group A Strep (iGAS), Manatū Hauora is actively
monitoring the situation. Surveillance is in place to be able to respond
to any increasing cases, and we are considering whether any further
measures are required.

 

Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be
