Christchurch City Council
Dear Cody,
I refer to your question below.
The Council recently considered a paper about the councillors' remuneration. The Mayor's remuneration is referred to in the report for information only.
This information does not exist as there is no council vote on the Mayor's remuneration.
Therefore we have decided to refuse your request under the following section of the LGOIMA - 17(e) – the information requested does not exist or cannot be found
There is no ability for the council to influence the Mayor's remuneration. The increase was set externally by the Remuneration Authority.
You should direct any questions on how the remuneration is set for Mayor's to the Remuneration Authority.
You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision. Complaints can be sent by email to [email address], by fax to (04) 471 2254, or by post to The Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington 6143.
Kind regards,
Sean
