As the attached advises, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) was transferred this Official Information Act 1982 from the Office of the Prime Minister.
The division working on your requests have asked me to if we can seek clarification around your below request.
A further request, Can I please understand all and any funds sent to any entity, organisation, country or Person for Climate change.
Could we get a sense of:
•Time period you are after?
•Whether the request covers funding both for domestic and international climate change work (in which case other agencies would need to respond vis a vis domestic funding) (or just international?)
•If international only, whether it covers just ‘Official Development Assistance’ (or broader MFAT support, or international support from other agencies)?
If any part of this request for clarification is unclear, please let us know.

Dear ESD,
My original request was directly in relation to the governemnt in 2021 commiting 1.3 billion over four years to support countries most vulnerable to climate change.
Timeframe for spending I would like to go back 10 years to 2013.
All money internationally spent would be better suited to what I am after. Any money that this government has spent for any climate change support, research or anything else to do with climate change.
I am not just after which country I am after the exact entity/person or organisation it has gone to.
Yours sincerely,
Tulson Caird

Dear ESD,
Time period you are after? back to 2013 please.
• Whether the request covers funding both for domestic and
international climate change work (in which case other agencies would need
to respond vis a vis domestic funding) (or just international?) Just international funding for now will be fine, Should I require more information I will complete another request.
• If international only, whether it covers just ‘Official
Development Assistance’ (or broader MFAT support, or international support
from other agencies)? I request any climate funding to any entity, Country/governemnt or persons.
Yours sincerely,
Tulson Caird

Regarding your amended request, collating the data in scope since 2013 (10 years) would unreasonably interfere in the operational capacity of this agency, and its therefore likely that we will have to refuse your request under section 18(f), that the information cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. I note however that we have data relating to the $1.3b in climate aid from January 2022, which we understand to be the scope of your original query.
Are you happy for the Ministry to provide you with this information instead?
