Dear Mr Harding,

 

I refer to your official information request dated 4 July 2023 asking for
information relating to dog registration.

 

The information you have requested is as follows.

 

o Total number of current registered dog owners in Whanganui district
for year 2022/2023. Total number of registered dog owners in Whanganui
District for year 2022/2023 is 5,942.

 

o and forecasted amount of registered dog owners and total revenue of
2022/23

Whanganui District Council do not forecast registration numbers for
upcoming years. We are refusing this part of your request in accordance
with section 17(e) of the LGOIMA because the information does not exist. 
Total dog registration revenue for the 2022/2023 financial year was
$479,012.

 

o and forecasted revenue for 2023/24 gathered form dog owners in the
Whanganui district. This has been budgeted at $540,000, this is based
on previous years registration numbers and an expected compliance
level of 98%.

 

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
