Dear Info,
We have not given approval for other OIA's to be cancelled, please proceed with each OIA individually and to the time frames they were registered in.
Once you know how many documents or items are captured by this OIA (advise by how many are publicly available on your website and how many are not, please advise the cost for the information.
Yours sincerely,
Barry Murphy
From: Barry Murphy
Dear Info,
Thanks for your call before.
Please confirm that you will not process the OIA's separately if I have this broad 'Teitei' search request, and that I should get another rate-payer to submit this question separately to ensure there is no hold up with my existing OIA's.
Please also confirm if there would still be a charge for this broad search considering we are asking for a much easier solution which would highlight all documents with the word "teitei" and you wouldn't need to find particular information, but could provide any and all documents and we can sift through them ourselves, removing work load from yourself and your team.
The information will also be used by 200+ rate payers of Ohakune, so we believe the information is in the best interest of the public and not for the soul purpose of myself.
Yours sincerely,
Barry Murphy

Good morning Barry,
In response to this email. The request for all documents, emails or notes that have the keyword "Teitei" in the last 3 years, is not a straight forward collate and pass on. It will need to be read and some information will require redaction under the privacy act 2020 and LGOIMA. I would ask the requestor to narrow their request to be more specific, which is what you are already doing.
Can you please confirm what decision you will make with regard to this particular request.
Kind regards
Maggie Flonk

Dear Info,
As already mentioned, I wish to retain my existing LGOIMA's; this request is for a wider collection of data that may have been missed by the previous specific requests.
I wish to continue with this LGOIMA in its full 'teitei' form, however as mentioned on this request and over the phone, if you cannot action this LGOIMA due to my more specific requests, I will have another ratepayer lodge this specific LGOIMA.
Yours sincerely,
Barry Murphy

Good afternoon Mr Murphy,
In response to your request dated 11 August 2023 requesting all documents, emails or notes that have the keyword "Teitei" in the last 3 years.
Due to the substantial amount of work that would be required to research and collate the information you have requested, we are refusing your request under section 17(f) of the LGOIMA, the purpose of refusing this request is taking into account the many requests to date submitted by yourself in relation to the same subject matter, that are in the process of being responded to. The volume of requests currently submitted are impacting on a planned project with a critical timeframe that the Information Management team are rolling out. An extra resource has been engaged to assist with the current LGOIMA requests.
We have considered whether charging or extending the timeframe for responding to your request would help, as required by section 17A of the LGOIMA. However, this is not a much easier solution as you suggest in your email dated 17 August 2023.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Your sincerely
Maggie Flonk

Dear Info,
Thanks for your reply.
As per my email response on August 17, 2023 and followup phone conversation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxNr0l2G...), I have advised that I am working for a number of rate payers and residents and offered for the request to be put through by another person if you preferred.
Are you saying that if anyone asked for the information they would also be rejected; or its just being rejected because you have too much work load & because I have too many OIA's?
Yours sincerely,
Barry Murphy

Dear Info,
Please advise what the cost would be if we chose to pay for the 64.2 hours to have this done.
Yours sincerely,
Barry Murphy
From: Info
Ruapehu District Council
Good afternoon Mr Murphy,
The 64.2 hours does not include a search of our electronic document records management system.
We do not have the ability to provide the extra resource to undertake this task.
Your current history of long and complex correspondence and requests, have collectively taken and continues to take a lot of time and resources to address.
This has had a significant impact on staff and the councils other operations.
Hence our refusal under section 17(f) of the LGOIMA.
Kind regards
Maggie
