Jackson Pollock made this Official Information request to Medicines Classification Committee
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Medicines Classification Committee should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Jackson Pollock
Dear Medicines Classification Committee,
In a news article dated 24 November 2022, a Medsafe spokesperson was quoted:
'...the misuse and abuse of ADHD medication such as methylphenidate (Ritalin) is an “ongoing challenge in many countries, including New Zealand” which is why it is heavily controlled.'

Could you please provide the advice or research Medsafe has either sought or received that provided the foundation for this media statement.
Advice or research specifically pertaining to the abuse of ADHD stimulant medications in New Zealand would be much appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Jackson
