I am writing concerning your Official Information Act request, transferred
to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) on 6 August
2024, below:
1. All documents (including, but not limited to: itineraries,
communications e.g emails, texts) relating to the visit of Apple Inc.
2. All travel documents (including, but not limited to: itineraries,
communications e.g emails, texts).
I note that your request for all documents captures a significant number
of information in scope, which would require teams to conduct a search
through all Ministry records, email inboxes and phone messages. As such,
it is likely that your request will be refused under section 18(f) of the
OIA, as the information requested cannot be made available without
substantial collation and research.
Accordingly, I seek your agreement to refine your request to:
o All formal documents predominantly relating to the PM’s meeting of
Apple Inc. of 12 July 2024.
Please note the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade defines something as
“predominantly relating” to a topic if 50% or more of the item is on the
topic or, the title of the item includes the term that was asked for.
Please note, it is likely that we will need to withhold information from
documents in scope of your request.
Please confirm if you are happy to proceed with the refined request above,
by Tuesday 20 August. If we do not hear from you, we will proceed with
your original request.
Please note, any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to
be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response (section 15(1AA) of the OIA refers).
