Filming Outside Ambulance Station
Paul J made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Paul J to read a recent response and update the status.
From: Paul J
Dear New Zealand Police,
On August the 31st, myself and my mate were taking photographs / recordings of an Ambulance returning to station here in Ashburton.
We have a Facebook group we share the photos to (this was the intended purpose) ━ we always make sure to blur out any faces if they are visible in frame.
These two ambulance workers came up to us after parking up at the station telling us we can't be recording them.
We were on a public side-walk, away from causing any obstructions.
We both felt rudely spoken to... it was very unprofessional how the man dealt with the situation.
I would like an example of why we're allowed to record in a public space, because I and my mate need some clarification.
Because what we've read here it's lawful: https://www.police.govt.nz/faq/what-are-...
Yours sincerely,
Paul J.
