I refer to your official information request received on 29 November 2024
for information on recent ground drilling at Anzac Park, Cliff Road,
Palmerston North.
Our response
1. Could you please advise what is the nature, purpose and reason
for this drilling?
Pro Drill were undertaking geotechnical test drilling as part of
investigating ground stability for the proposed Te Motu o Poutoa – Civic
Marae and Cultural Centre project. Additional test pit and survey work is
scheduled to be undertaken on Cliff Road as part of the road upgrade in
late January 2025. Further information about the Te Motu o Poutoa
development is [1]available on our website.
2. What organisation requested it, as well as who authorised it?
The work was requested by our lead design consultant Boon Limited, in
conjunction with the structural engineering consultant. The work is also
required for the project’s resource consent application. The drilling was
approved by Council.
