I am reaching out in relation to your recent OIA request (REF: 03/2025),
in which you sought information regarding the number of applicants for
hardship scholarships between 2019 and 2025.

 

To provide you with the most accurate and relevant data, we kindly request
clarification on a few points. The current wording of your request appears
somewhat ambiguous, and we want to ensure that we address your query as
thoroughly as possible. Specifically, we would appreciate your guidance on
the following:

 

 1. Does the request pertain solely to hardship bursaries? At Massey
University, we offer various bursaries that combine both financial
need and academic or other merit. Should these be included in our
response?
 2. Are there any other specific parameters we should consider? For
example, should we account for the funding source, level of study, or
other criteria?
 3. As your request spans the period during the COVID-19 pandemic, should
our response include COVID-related bursaries, which may no longer be
offered or not normally offered?

 

Additionally, please note that our response will focus only on the
bursaries managed centrally by the Scholarships Team. This will encompass
scholarships and bursaries available to students across all campuses, not
just the campus specified in your request.

 

We would greatly appreciate it if you could confirm which of these options
aligns with your request and provide any further details that might assist
us in refining our search.

Dear Massey University,

 

Please provide the number of total applicants to scholarships flagged as
hardship for the 2019-2025 educational years. I am mostly interested in
the Wellington region, so if the data could be subsetted to only include
the number of hardship scholarship applicants from students intending to
study at Massey's Wellington campus, I would be appreciative. If such
subsetting is not easily doable, I am happy to instead receive the entire
dataset.,
