Dear Earthquake Commission,
I request all information relating to EQC’s method and model of apportionment of costs from multiple quakes. This request includes, but is not limited to:
• A copy of the apportionment model.
• All communication between EQC with insurers and reinsurers regarding the development of any apportionment model.
• The discussion paper noted in stuff.co.nz article ‘Apportionment model debated’ by Alan Wood published on 20 June 2012, which stated:
“EQC had a few weeks ago sent a discussion paper, to its reinsurers to help get them to agree to the ‘model approach’, EQC CEO Ian Simpson said”.

Thank you for your request for information received on 7 July 2017.  You
requested the following of the Earthquake Commission (EQC):

 

‘I request all information relating to EQC’s method and model of
apportionment of costs from multiple quakes. This request includes, but is
not limited to:

Your request is being considered under the Official Information Act 1982. 
You will receive a response by 4 August 2017, subject to EQC’s right under
section 15A of the Official Information Act to extend the timeframe for

Thank you for your information request received on 7 July 2017. You
requested the following under the Official Information Act:

After making some initial enquiries, it has become apparent that your
request encapsulates a large volume of material and to provide all
information on the subject requested would require substantial research
and collation. On this basis we would like to invite you to consider
amending your request. I have attached a factsheet regarding apportionment
which may assist you in providing clarification.
